The sheer simplicity of Chrysalis makes it one of my all time favorites, and the feeling that it evokes for me is very peaceful. It came at the conclusion of this shamanic journey, as as such felt like it had the distinction of symbolizing having passed through the chrysalis and reborn, in this case with greater awareness and perspective from the whole experience.
I also love the fact that you can hear the fire crackling in the background throughout this piece, a warmth to welcome back the traveler from a journey of such intensity.
These pieces were recorded live and from scratch as looping sessions, meaning each part was played live and looped into an ever thickening tapestry of sound. The only editing that took place after the fact was to create the in and out points. In other words, for length.
